My general approach in therapy is based on the principals of psycho dynamic insight therapy. I draw from my training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and Gestalt Therapy to provide treatment for my client's unique needs.
PSYCHO DYNAMIC AND INSIGHT PSYCHOTHERAPY
Psycho dynamic and Insight Therapy help clients become aware of and experience their vulnerable feelings which have been pushed out of conscious awareness. The Psycho dynamic approach assumes that everyone has an unconscious which holds and harbors painful and vulnerable feelings which are too difficult for the person to be consciously aware of. In order to keep painful feelings, memories, and experiences in the unconscious, people tend to develop defense mechanisms such as denial, repression, rationalization, and others. According to Psycho dynamic theory, defenses that were developed in order to keep the person emotionally safe during childhood cause more harm than good in adulthood. Once the vulnerable or painful feelings are processed the defense mechanisms reduce or resolve and the person is able to function in a mentally healthy manner.

GESTALT THERAPY
Gestalt Therapy addresses human growth through the life cycle. It focuses on the here and now experience and the personal responsibility of the client. Gestalt Therapy uses the client's symptoms to identify unresolved issues that are barriers to personal satisfaction, fulfillment and growth. Experiences during therapy help clients develop skills needed to address stressful situations. This therapy helps clients understand how their physical experiences and emotional experiences are connected in one human body. As a result, clients feel more self-confident, calm and at peace.

EMDR THERAPY
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) uses a standard set of protocols that integrate several psychotherapy approaches to effectively treat trauma. It is unique in its use of bilateral stimulation during some or part of the therapy sessions. It is most often associated with the treatment of PTSD. It can be a powerfully effective treatment for survivors of domestic violence and other traumas.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)
EFT is a focused and brief psychotherapy that uses exposure and acupoint stimulation to release stuck energy in the mind-body system that is usually the result of unresolved major or minor traumas.

"Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing the monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move forward"
